10th International Narrative Therapy and Community Work Conference Salvador, Brazil
Call for presentations now open
We are now accepting expressions of interest in presenting at the upcoming 10th International Narrative Therapy and Community Work Conference which is to take place in Salvador, Brazil on 13–15 July 2011.
If you are interested in presenting your work at this conference, we will now welcome receiving a proposal from you! This conference will build upon the tradition of our earlier events and provide a forum for practitioners from different parts of the world to share the ways in which they are using narrative practices within therapy and community work.
Please know that there will be limited spaces for presentations at this International Conference. Many considerations go into the development of the program – including ensuring a diversity of issues and themes addressed, as well as ensuring that the presenters represent the diversity of the field in terms of culture, class, race, sexuality, disability, and age. It will not be possible to accept all proposals for formal presentations. We will, however, do our very best to ensure that opportunities are created within the three days of the conference for those who wish to share their work with others to do so.
Within your proposal please indicate:
• why you are interested in sharing your work at this conference
• which aspects of the work that you wish to discuss are offering you the most hope and sustenance
• which aspects you are struggling with and/or are raising dilemmas.
Please also describe:
• The particular skills of narrative practice that would be demonstrated within your presentation
• The key themes that would be covered within your presentation
• Any key theoretical concepts that you be linking to descriptions of therapeutic practice.
If you will be sharing the stories of others within your presentation, it would be really helpful if you could briefly describe the process that you will be going through to take care in relation to the politics of representation. Thanks.
If you have written about the work which you would like to share at the conference, it would be great if you could email us a copy of this writing.
It is relevant to note that presenters are able to pay a reduced registration fee. When we offer someone a presentation slot, the presenter will need to confirm that they wish to take up this invitation by registering for the International Conference at the reduced fee.
Please mark your proposal 'A proposal to present at the 10th International Narrative Therapy and Community Work Conference’ and email it to
